Growing up with six siblings who were always deprived of snacks (or so it seemed…by the way chips disappeared in all but 3 seconds), I used to think that once I am in charge of the groceries, I would buy as many sugary and fatty snacks as I possibly could. Well, I was so wrong! Believe me, no one is as surprised as I am. Instead of chips, cookies, ice cream, and other childhood favorites, I crave fruits! There are times that I want fruit so badly that I tell my husband not to come home without it. I’m not sure when and why this is…because I was NOT deprived of fruit as a child. We had apple, cherry, pear, apricot and plum trees, and any berries you can name growing in our backyard in Ukraine (although, my first banana tasting was at the age of like 6, and that was the first and last time until America). So I am not sure what causes these cravings…but my figure and dentist thank me! My husband is yet to become a fruit fan..but I got a lifetime of making him a believer!
